Meeting of the Board of the Methodist Cemetery Association(MCA)
Saturday January 31, 2004.
The meeting was held at the home of Audrey Schwartz. The meeting was called to order at 1:00
PM. Present were President Audrey Schwartz, Corresponding Secretary Margaret R. Amundson,
Director Diane Tamayo, Director Dorothy Ford, and Recording Secretary Jacque-Lynne
Schulman.
President's Report
Grounds: The President reported that Armand Spikell, developer of the Sears building, has
offered to pay the cost to remove the huge diseased white oak that has been the source of much
concern regarding safety and liability issues. He will send us a check to pay for the removal of
the tree by Mulheron Trees for the agreed upon cost.
Fence: We will have one side or the Murdock Mill side of the fence replaced by the Columbian
Harmony Society this year. They had committed their funds to other cemeteries for 2004. We will
be able to get more funding from them next year and will eventually have an Ornamental Fence
around the entire cemetery if we rceive their funding. A brochure showing photographs of the
proposed black cast-aluminum fence were reviewed and the design was approved.
New Business
A request was received from a descendant of someone buried in the Cemetery who wished to
have a tombstone installed. He had an exact location of his family grave. The Board approved his
request with the provisio that the MCA could not guarantee the location of any neighboring
burials and that he take to prevent damage to other gravesites.
The quesition of selling burial sites was discussed. The Board determined that absent a complete
plot map of existing burials and complete ownership records, no sale of sites could be undertaken
at this time.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 PM
