Meeting of the Board of the Methodist Cemetery Association(MCA)
Sunday March 28, 2004.
The meeting was held at the home of Audrey Schwartz. The meeting was called to order at 1:30
PM. Present were President Audrey Schwartz, Corresponding Secretary Margaret R. Amundson,
Treasurer Robert A. Bates, Director Diane Tamayo, Director Dorothy Ford, and Recording
Secretary Jacque-Lynne Schulman.
President's Report
Grounds: The President reported that the first section of the new fence had benn installed and the
first phase of tree work had been completed. Photographs were shown of the work in progress
and afterwards. All agreed that the fence was very attractive and enhanced the overall dignity of
the Cemetery. The remaining sides will be completed as future funds are available from the
Columbia Harmony Society, which has so very kindly offered its financial assistance. The tree
work was funded by the developer of the Sears site and that funding is also greatly appreciated.
Records: Records have not yet been received from Donald Ray Barnes. It is hoped that in
time all the past records will be located and added to those now held by the Methodist Cemetery
Assocation.
New Business
Stationary: Stationary designed for the MCA was reviewed and approved.
The Board approved payment of reimbursement of expenses incurred by the President for
purchase of paper used for MCA matters.
Cemetery Roundtable: On May 2
nd, represenatives of all 23 cemeteries in Wangington, D.C. have
been invited to a program and meeting at Historic Congressional Cemetery. The meeting will be
co-sponsored by Woodlawn Cemetery. Margaret Amundson and Diane Tamayo volunteered to
represent the MCA.
Annual General Meeting: May 16
th was set as the date for the annual general meeting. It will
held at 2:00 PM at Eldebrooke Untied Methodist Church. A Board of Directors meeting will be
held immediately before the general meeting.
Homecoming Picnic: A homecoming and potluck picnic will be held at the cemetery on June 6
th.
In the event of rain, the Church will be asked to be the alternate location.
The day will also
include opporunity for sharing family history and genealogy.
All members of the MCA will be
encourage to come and bring family members. Others who are involved with the Cemetery
including the Iona House and Paul Sluby will be invited.
