The cemetery is known as the Methodist Cemetery. It has also been improperly known as the Eldbrooke Methodist Cemetery. Eldbrooke is the combination of the last names of two of its founders Aquila Eld and Philip L. Brooke. It also has been improperly called the Tenleytown Methodist Cemetery. It sits behind Eldbrooke United Methodist Church. The Association maintains friendly relation with the church, but the church is not responsible for the cemetery.
